Come and take a campus tour: you’ll be impressed! From the classic architecture of the front campus, to the modern rippled roof of the Mathematics and Computer Sciences Building, beautiful buildings are surrounded by park-like green. Even our trees have won an award, when we became Ohio’s first Tree Campus USA University. Plus, our proximity to major metropolitan areas — Cleveland, Akron, Canton and Youngstown — puts students within reach of world-class dining, museums, professional sports and Fortune 500 companies (think internships and jobs!). Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport and Akron Canton Regional Airport make travelling to and from Kent State a breeze.

Residence Services uses a roommate matching system that takes your major and preferences into account when assigning roommates. Residence halls come equipped with high speed Internet, phone, cable, laundry rooms, 24-hour security and more. Dining options abound, as do the ways you can pay for your meals. The campus is safe; Kent State University’s Police Services was one of the first nationally accredited law enforcement agencies in Ohio and the second university police department in the United States to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

Kent State’s state-of-the-art Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) is the place to go for swimming, exercise equipment, free weights, racquetball, basketball and more. In the spring, the SRWC also offers canoes and kayaks for Cuyahoga River excursions. Quick Tip: Avoid waiting in line for Group X classes and know if a class is full with Flash Pass.

Meet With Your Academic Advisor

Freshman and sophomore students are required to meet with an advisor once per semester. An advisor can help you stay on track with your major, by reviewing and updating your GPS profile. An advisor will also help you plan for future coursework.
