One of the measures of our quality of life is the availability of resources for our leisure time. As faculty and staff members of Kent State University, we are extremely fortunate to have a plethora of resources not only for work, but also for play. Whether you prefer active leisure such as recreational activities, or passive leisure such as attending a concert or sporting event, Kent State offers something for everyone, including families of all ages.
As the former director for our PEAK Summer Day Camp through the department of Recreational Services, as well as a new father to a 2-year-old son and 8-week old daughter, I am grateful for the resources we have available at Kent State University for children and families. As our former camp director, it was nice being able to take advantage of our available resources by scheduling weekly field trips to various locations across campus based on each weekly theme of our camp. As a new father, it has been enjoyable spending quality time with our son by participating in various leisure activities on campus.
The following is a list of suggested indoor leisure activities available at the Kent Campus for families, both active and passive, to participate in during the winter months when the weather outside often keeps us indoors. Some activities you may have participated in previously. Others you may not have even thought of. Feel free to share your own favorite pastimes of your family, as well.
